Barbequed Burgers Stuffed with Bacon and Cheese
Serve with Maison Bouachon Côtes du Rhône
½ pound bacon - cooked crisp and chopped
½ cup yellow onion – finely chopped
1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
2 pounds lean ground beef
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
Mix the bacon, onion and cheese in a small bowl. Divide the hamburger into 8 equal parts and form thin patties. Top four of the patties with the stuffing, place the remaining 4 patties on top and press to seal. Season both sides with salt and pepper and grill over hot coals, turning once, until cooked.
Makes 4 burgers
