A Taste of History
Robert Skalli began a wine revolution in the
1980s creating the very first single-grape wines
in the country. As French single-grape wines
gained great popularity in the early ‘90s,
Robert Skalli progressed his focus to developing
a new generation of wines that expressed both
the typical nature of their terroirs and the
complexity of taste in the different varieties.
Today, Robert Skalli continues to be recognized
around the globe as a producer of extraordinary
excellence that attests to the quality of the
vineyards while matching consumer expectations.
Crafting a perfect balance of aromatic
complexity, concentration and elegance, Robert
Skalli wines are the embodiment of beautifully
balanced wines to be enjoyed on all occasions.
The Vineyards
Home to Robert Skalli wines,
Languedoc-Roussillon is the largest winegrowing
area in the world and one of the most
fascinating areas of Europe. Bounded by the
Mediterranean Sea to the east, the Pyrenees and
Spain to the south, the Région of Midi-Pyrénées
to the west, and the Massif Central (and
Auvergne Région) to the North, its Mediterranean
climate offers some parcels to ripen early while
others take longer. Known as a region of
diverse, rich terroir in southern France, it is
synonymous with the sheer elegance and finesse
of Robert Skalli wines.
For over twenty years, Robert Skalli has worked
in close collaboration with noteworthy and
established winegrowers and now The “Skalli
Vineyard Quality Club” to produce wines of
precise concentrations and complexities.
Earmarked based on the potential of each terroir,
Robert Skalli wines specific parcels include:
West Languedoc: a temperate climatic zone
and very stony, chalky-clay soils producing very
dense, aromatic wines.
Central Languedoc: a hotter climatic
zone, with earlier ripening, where two types of
soil were chosen: a gravelly clay soil giving
well-structured wines with noticeable tannins; a
soil of limestone fragments giving softer wines
with coated tannins.
North-East: a cooler, later-ripening
climate, with limestone soils providing fruitier
wines. |
